The Coronat Scholars Program
Syracuse University offers a rewarding program for superbly accomplished incoming freshmen interested in majoring in the liberal arts. The Coronat Scholars Program in The College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University is a highly competitive opportunity for students with outstanding intellectual curiosity, accomplishment, and courage, who are committed to serving others. The Coronat Scholars Program offers many special opportunities, including:

full tuition for four years; |
| • | our pledge to meet your financial need that exceeds the cost of tuition; |
| • | full funding (tuition, room and board, and funds for airfare and expenses) for one SU Abroad international study opportunity, either short-term, summer, or semester; |
| • | funding for one summer of approved study, research, or volunteer work (awarded on a competitive basis); |
| • | admission to the Renée Crown University Honors Program; |
| • | mentoring for prominent national scholarships including Rhodes, Marshall, Fulbright, Truman and others. |
Achievements of our current Coronat Scholars
Coronat Scholars have outstanding academic records, with a mean GPA of 4.15 and a mean SAT of approximately 1400*. Several were National Merit Scholarship Finalists, member of Odyssey of the Mind teams that went to the World Finals, Valedictorians of their high school classes, and recognized by numerous language and science exams (Latin, French, English, chemistry).
In addition to an outstanding academic record, Coronat Scholars are chosen on the basis of their records of leadership and service activities. In high school, they served as presidents of various student groups, were captains of sports teams, editors of their yearbook or school newspaper, as well as members of the Model UN, the Math League, the Law Club, and other organizations. Whether working in a local art museum, teaching Chinese, or working for their state AIDS Project, all were committed to significant service.
* SAT scores based on 1600 combined math and verbal scores, though the writing portion is required
How you can be considered
Application is by invitation only. Students interested in being considered for the Coronat Scholarship Program must complete an application for admission to The College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University. Only students interested in a liberal arts major through The College of Arts and Sciences will be considered (single, dual or combined enrollment with other SU colleges is permitted). If invited to compete for the Coronat Scholarship, students will be asked to submit a separate essay-based application, due in February. Finalists will be interviewed on campus in March, with winners to be selected later that month.
